It's important that you take the necessary steps to protect your computer since it will be your main tool for your Internet home business. I. Make sure your system is clean

1. Zone Alarm Firewall - This is a personal firewall that will help prevent unauthorized hacking.
2. AVG Antivirus - This antivirus software will help prevent future infections. The AVG free edition (at the bottom of the linked page) works very well. You will, however, want to upgrade to the Home & Small Office Edition once your Internet home business is better established.
3. Spyware Blaster - This sets a "kill bit" for spyware's ActiveX controls, but leaves harmless ActiveX controls alone. This will increase your security whenever you may be using Internet Explorer.
4. CW Shredder - This will scan for a specific type of spyware called Cool Web Search. It is particularly hard to remove, but this will take care of it.
5. Winpatrol - This will alert you to hijackings, malware attacks and critical changes made to your computer without your permission.

III. Use these for increased safety.
