An email autoresponder is a type of software application that sends emails to people on a selected email list automatically, triggered by a schedule, or by receiving a certain response.  There are a variety of email autoresponder programs available, at varying prices. Having one as part of your Internet home business has become essential.  Email autoresponders are used to greet those on your email list, they help you communicate even when you’re not available, they help you build relationships, and they help you advertise and enhance public relations.

Since email autoresponders are automated and don’t require a live person, they save a  lot of time for a busy home business owner.  Since they can be configured ahead of time, which guarantees uniformity in the messages sent out.  An autoresponder is also great for bulk email marketing or sending broadcast messages to your entire email list.  You may want to send a newsletter to your subscribers or notify them of a coupon or discount offer. All this can be done with a single click.

Most email autoresponders cost about $20 per month to use their service. Although having an email autoresponder is a must, if you’re on a shoestring budget $20 per month can seem like a burden. A great option for those on a budget is the iContact Email Marketing company.  Their service starts at $9.95 per month, they have an easy to use interface and over 300 professionally-designed email templates. They allow you to track the opens and clickthroughs on your emails, add a sign-up form to your web site, segment your list, and manage your subscribers (including taking care of managing bounces and unsubscribes for you). It’s a pretty great service, especially for the price.  No matter what email autoresponder service you use, make sure you’re building your list because like they always say, “The money is in the list!” List building is definitely one of my main areas of focus this year.
