Day One of 2008. A new beginning. I’ve spent today reflecting on what may have held me back in 2007… things I need to change to get where I’m trying to go. Like many bloggers, I posted some of my goals and commitments a few days ago. Now that I’ve set them, it’s a matter of HOW I will achieve them.

There are various things I will need to do this year in order to reach the level of success I want for my online business. Advertising, marketing, promotion, traffic generation, testing, and more. But before diving in those waters, I believe it’s important to get my mind right first. The way you perceive yourself and the way you think about what you want has a greater impact on our ability to succeed than many people realize.

Here’s a few things to remember

1. You are meant to have success and financial abundance. There’s no limit to the amount of financial success that you can achieve. Abundance is what you were intended to have from the moment you were born. I personally only began to fully believe this sometime last year. Money in my family has never come easy and although I do alright for me and my family, it still doesn’t come as easily as I’d like. Positive affirmations are helping me change my thought process.

2. Let go of your doubts. Think about what your goals are and what you want for yourself and your business. How does it make you feel? Do you believe you can actually achieve these things or are you just hoping you can? There’s a big difference. I honestly believe with every fiber of my being that I am going to succeed in my online endeavors. And more than that, I refuse to give up because failure is not an option. I am, however, very aware that I have some limiting beliefs that directly affect my path success. Releasing these limiting beliefs is probably been one of my biggest challenges and I’ll continue to work on this through 2008.

3. Focus on what you want… not what you don’t. I was born a worrier… I got this trait honestly from my mom. Worrying is a horrible habit to have. Your mind focuses on all the bad things going on and you often end up going down the “what if” path of all the bad things that could happen. It’s a complete waste of time and energy. I made a lot of progress in this area in 2007. It takes practice to catch yourself thinking about things you don’t want and to consciously re-focus your mind on what you do want instead. I’ve made a conscious decision not to waste my time worrying and you know what? Once you do that and then realize that things end up turning out okay (or better than okay) even when you don’t worry, it helps you to stop yourself from worrying the next time.

What you focus on expands. It’s so important to remember that.
